Nesta quarta-feira, 22, o Apple Music divulgou os 10 melhores álbuns de todos os tempos, completando uma lista de 100 itens iniciada há 10 dias. O álbum de estreia de Lauryn Hill, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" (1998), foi coroado como o melhor de todos os tempos.
A seleção foi realizada por uma curadoria que incluiu compositores, produtores, profissionais da indústria musical e um grupo de hitmakers, como Pharrell Williams e J Balvin. A plataforma garantiu que as escolhas não foram baseadas em estatísticas de streaming.
Dentre os 100 artistas e bandas selecionados, Bad Bunny foi o único representante da língua espanhola. Europa e Estados Unidos dominaram a lista, sem espaço para artistas brasileiros.
Zane Lowe e Ebro Darden, do Apple Music, uniram-se a Nile Rodgers e Maggie Rogers para comentar o top 10. "Não é datado, nem uma fração sequer. Na verdade, parece mais fresco e mais relevante a cada vez que você ouve", afirmou Lowe sobre o álbum de Hill. Rogers destacou a importância da escolha: "Ter uma artista como Lauryn Hill no número um, isso significa muito". Sucinto, Nile Rodgers declarou: "Ela é incrível". Darden ressaltou a pessoalidade do álbum: "Ele exemplifica e captura a música popular dos últimos 25 anos, holisticamente. É R&B, é hip-hop, é mulher independente, mulher forte, é atual, é uma amostragem... Acho que é por isso que votei nele como número um".
Lauryn Hill também se pronunciou sobre a conquista: "Esse é meu prêmio, mas é uma narrativa rica e profunda, e envolve tanta gente, tanto sacrifício, tanto tempo e tanto amor coletivo".
